I've restarted my computer a lot of times today, frequently by means of improper shutdown when it frozen on me, and when I turned it on just now after one of these shutdowns, the start menu worked! Now my Note, One Drive, etc keep crashing and I have a dead Start and Notification menu. Why isn't there some sort of system diagnostic disk available that just replaces all the system files with the originals like there was with windows xp or windows 7? This same issue happened literally two days ago with my desktop. On restart I got the orange screen with the circle - decided to let it run in case it was fixing something. There are many solutions suggestions on the web and I have tried most of them without success. New User account You may try to create a new user account and check if it fixes the issue. Whenever I click on search i con or windows on taskbar my desktop starts to flash black screen and closes all my open tabs.
Windows, being a highly reliable brand, has always been the first choice of the users when it comes to the selection of an effective and easy to go operating system for their personal computers. . Make a copy of that take, take a picture as well. They will surely work as normal by now. I have tried all the suggested fixes, nothing seems to work. The windows button and the Cortana button, do nothing when clicked. Is my only solution going to be to completely reinstall Windows 10??? Hope this helps in resolving the issue.
I saw a post where a suggestion was to create a new account and copy my files over from the old to the new using an admin account. After, following above mentioned steps, simply convert your new account into an administrator account. That resource is here, either Option four or five will work just fine. I do see people talking about Powershell. Though Edge has worked once or twice, it's still pretty dodgy. We're still working on ideas.

I then put Windows 10 on them as an upgrade while in the Windows 7 environment. I used both methods twice and got nothing. So the issue does not appear to be a user-level issue. The root problem seems to be something associated with the user account.
I've not ran into this in a build later than Win 7 but those were people getting lovely bugs on their system. The bug in your device may malfunction start menu icon or freeze the search bar. I have try many suggestion, from restart, add new account, powershell but the problem still there. Actually…the only thing that works with a left click on my task bar is task view and show hidden icons. It has been reported by a few users that disabling or uninstalling them has auto fixed the start button issue. If you are a trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation. Check this box and press Enter.
The recent up gradation of Windows 10 has irritated users across the globe. Update: Mine just started working! I got a message saying it was starting, but nothing happened - it just sat there doing nothing. I'd recommend doing that, simply speaking this is like a factory reset on your computer. I updated from Windows 7. I tried the first one and nothing happened, so I tried the second one and restarted the laptop. Things should return to normal.
What the heck is causing this problem? The shortcut you just created for msconfig will show up on your desktop. An option to log out is stated on the notification adding that logging out and logging in again will fix the issue but upon doing that many times, it still remains the same. I have been using Windows 10 Pro since Day One. Eventually I was able to log in, but the following thing do not work: 1. I assume the start menu refers to the windows menu.
Win 10 should not have been released yet. Select change account type option, choose administrator and enter ok to confirm. If anybody knows anyway to fix this,please let me know.
