This is interesting to consider and it is not hard to compare Ariel and Rapunzel's families and how they are so similar and the different paths that they take. They both lost someone important to them and that is what made them so harsh and strict. Except he doesn't forgive her, he desperately asked her for help but she broke her promise. And of course we see Cassandra doing what she does best: being an asshole. Needless to say, Rapunzel's faith in whom to trust and her self-confidence take a beating. It's pretty brutal for Varian too; the Sundrop Flower he thought would save his dad is useless because it hasn't had any magic since Rapunzel was born. To her surprise, she sees Varian and his pet raccoon, Rudiger there. Well, I can see that but…. Rapunzel is shocked by Varian's treachery. It turns out the rumors were true after all, and it is proven by the climax.
They may be family and by this point, it has almost been a year since Rapunzel left the tower. However, as they reach their prize, Varian betrays Rapunzel and steals the flower so he can use it to free his father. Rapunzel returns to the castle directly after the events in the previous episode , hurt and upset about her father lying to her about the black rocks. It immediately creates a darker plot Varian!?! It's not a school of thought that I'm partial to, but it exists. After waking up, she goes to a boat by the dock to contemplate the dream and get some fresh air. Unfortunately, Rapunzel doesn't know that.
She accepts the position even after all that Varian has done for her to even get a temporary spot on the guard. And even by acting on love as Frederic felt he was doing, he was pushing Rapunzel away. As the guards try to capture Varian, he eludes them in a haze of purple smoke. Or maybe Rapunzel felt so guilty about not helping him that she tries to ignore it by pretending his actions were worse then they were. Did it never occur to her how dangerous it was to let the royal advisor of all people to keep going around spreading that lie? But anyway, Cass is able to help with the guard duties as long as she finishes her handmaiden duties and finishes setting up for the Expo. Furthermore, Rapunzel tells Eugene about her long locks of golden hair growing back shown in the first episode , leaving fans with a sentimental moment between the two lovers. And as we have brought up throughout this event, the latter half of Tangled: The Series is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster and that is very true towards the end here as we see the return of Varian and how he becomes the villain of the series and that is fully realized here in this episode. I understand she couldn't help him at the moment, but why throw him out into the cold when she knows how far his home is from the castle. Turns out, its magic has been transferred to Rapunzel.
Eugene and Cassandra soon realized the man was Varian and ran to the royal vault to stop him Yeah, as we have discussed throughout this review and this event. We see my favorite recurring character, Varian, and they actually managed to make Cassandra a likable character. Of course this worries Cass and Rapunzel, so they decide to check it out. Meanwhile, back at the palace, Eugene and Cass notice that more and more people can't stop telling the truth. Varian comes to Rapunzel for help in finding the remnants of the Magical Golden Flower, which may hold the key to stopping the Black Rocks. Me, I fall somewhere in the middle as I don't see him as just an edgelord but I will not excuse his actions either. They may be family and by this point, it has almost been a year since Rapunzel left the tower.
